Description
FR-HY50 is a flame retardant that is both efficient and free of halogens and red phosphorus. It is specifically designed for use in epoxy resin and acrylic coatings due to its excellent flame retardant properties in both gas and solid phases.
FR-HY50 has several advantages as a flame retardant. It is highly compatible with resins, allowing it to be easily incorporated into a variety of materials. Additionally, during combustion, FR-HY50 rapidly forms an expanded carbon layer that acts as a barrier to oxygen and heat, effectively slowing or stopping the spread of flames. These properties make FR-HY50 an effective and versatile flame retardant for use in a variety of applications.
Typical Properties
Physical Properties | Unit | Target Value |
Water/Moisture | % | 0.3 |
Decomposition Temperature | ℃ | 280 |
Average Particle Size (D50) | μm | 15 |
Usage
Ø In water and oil-based epoxy and acrylic coatings:
FR-HY50 is a flame retardant that can be easily dispersed, allowing resin emulsions to exhibit good flame retardant properties. When used in combination with other flame retardants, FR-HY50 can provide even better flame retardant performance. This makes it a popular choice for use in epoxy and acrylic coatings.
Ø In epoxy or acrylic emulsions:
Typically, adding around 15% of FR-HY50 to a material is sufficient to achieve the UL 94 V-0 classification for flame retardancy.
Ø Attention:
The use of metal hydroxides such as aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide can have a negative impact on the performance of a flame-retardant system. However, other materials such as kaolin, silica fume, and wollastonite have a relatively smaller effect on the system.
Packaging & Storage
Packaged in a paper-plastic composite bag. 25 kg per package.
The product must be sealed, kept dry, dust-free, and cool.
