In 2019, affected by the adjustment of the new energy vehicle subsidy policy in China, the growth of the global new energy vehicle market slowed down. Sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.21 million units, of which sales in the Chinese market exceeded 1.2 million units, sales in the US market were 325,000 units, and sales in the European market exceeded 550,000 units. These are the three largest new energy vehicle consumer markets in the world.
In the first half of 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, the global new energy vehicle market experienced varying degrees of decline. The total sales of new energy vehicles worldwide were 944,000 units and the penetration rate was 2.78%. In February, affected by the epidemic in China, global sales of new energy vehicles were only 116,200 units, a sharp month-on-month decline of 22.8%. In April, when the epidemic spread globally, global sales of new energy vehicles were 110,300 units, a sharp month-on-month decline of 42.6%. In June, sales rebounded significantly to 229,900 units, a month-on-month increase of 59%. In addition, due to the dual impact of the epidemic and policies, China market share in the global new energy vehicle market fell slightly and Europe's new energy vehicle sales grew rapidly and surpassed China to become the world's largest new energy vehicle consumer market.
In terms of market share among major Chinese automakers in the first half of 2020, BYD accounted for 15.58%, Tesla accounted for 12.52%, Volkswagen and GAC had similar market shares at around 6%, BAIC, Roewe, NIO, Baojun, BMW and Volvo are all around 4%, and other brands account for the remaining share.
The cost composition of new energy vehicles is mainly batteries accounting for 42%, motors accounting for 10%, electronic control accounting for 11%, electric drive components accounting for 7%, and other costs.
As mentioned above in terms of cost composition, batteries account for almost half. It can be seen that batteries are very important for new energy vehicles. Today we will look at flame-retardant components in new energy vehicle components.
The charging plug needs to be flame-retardant. Our FR-AMPS product is used in this field with good flame-retardant effect. Applying to polyamide 66 engineering plastics, a dose of 13% FR-AMPS is typically sufficient for the electrical compounds to obtain the UL 94 V0 classification at 1.6 mm thickness.
Our products have been used on charging pile interfaces on Hyundai Motor, BYD and Wuling New Energy vehicles. So, FR-AMPS is one of our company's best-selling products.
