FR-ADP04 is a flame retardant characterized by large-sized, surface-activated particles, primarily composed of organic aluminum phosphinate. It finds its primary application in engineering plastics, notably PBT, PET – both in varieties reinforced with glass fibers and those without reinforcement – as well as polyamides.
A distinctive feature of FR-ADP04 lies in its particle size process, which effectively minimizes decomposition that can occur during polymer granulation due to shear forces. This preservation mechanism safeguards the inherent properties of the material and ensures color stability in the final polymer product. Tailored specifically for PBT and PET applications, FR-ADP04 is versatile, compatible with both glass fiber-reinforced and non-reinforced grades, enhancing their physical and electrical performance when used as flame retardants.

To achieve UL 94 V-0 flame retardancy at a thickness of 1.6 mm, a formulation typically requiring 10% (by weight) of FR-ADP04, complemented with 5% of a nitrogen-based flame retardant, is sufficient. Adjustments to the flame retardant ratio may be necessary based on specific formulations and processing parameters.
In Glass Fiber Reinforced PA6 and Other Composites:
For achieving UL 94 V-0 rating at a thinner 0.8 mm, a combination of 12% FR-ADP04 with 6% of a nitrogen-based flame retardant is generally adequate. Again, the precise quantities may vary depending on the compound's recipe and processing conditions.
Packaged in a paper-plastic composite bag and lined with a plastic bag. 25 kg per package.
